Welcome to the Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival.

Join Author and Mythologist Anthony Murphy on this guided tour and hear all about the ancient myths and legends of the Hill of Tara, seat of the high kings and ancient political capital of Ireland.

Anthony will tell us about the earliest kingship myths of Tara, and some of the strange and various means by which the future kings were foretold. He will also talk about the archaeology of Tara and its monuments, encompassing 5,000 years of Irish history.

Please note that this walk is not suitable for young children. Dogs are permitted once leashed. We will be capturing photo and video content as part of our festival.

Please leave our natural resources is a clean state for future visitors.

The Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival is sponsored by Failte Ireland and supported by Love Drogheda BID (Business Improvement District-Drogheda ratepayers).

Things To Know

Got questions? We’ve got answers. Here are some of the most common queries about our trails and events.

What should I bring with me?

For our forest, mountain or off-road trails, we recommend bringing water, snacks, good waterproof boots or trainers, hat and sunglasses. You may bring a walking pole if you like and please dress according to the weather-it is Ireland after all. Light layers and waterproof shoes and coat, plus some clean socks just in case.

Dogs are allowed on some of our trails and on others only guide dogs are permitted. Please read the event description carefully to see if dogs are allowed or contact us to confirm.

Yes! We include in the cost of the tickets the official Camino passport. You will collect stamps all along the Boyne Camino route and you can (if you are feeling extra adventurous) take this passport with you to complete the remaining 75km in Spain to complete a full 100km Camino.

We use Eventbrite as our ticketing partner; they process our ticket sales on our behalf. As we are a volunteer-led group, we need to add a small charge to each ticket to cover fees from Eventbrite.
