A rare opportunity to walk the northern side of the Boyne and discover the Devenish Lands at Dowth. This area of the Boyne Valley is rich in nature and history. It includes newly discovered megalithic passage tombs and Ireland’s largest henge (Late Neolithic embanked circular enclosure).

The walk along the river is unspoilt and rich in wildlife. Talks along the way will cover the recent archaeological finds at Dowth Hall, the landscape, wildlife and Devenish’s research work on sustainable agriculture.

This walk is an area not normally accessible to the public.

Gates open at 9.30am and the walk starts at 10am sharp with a finish at approx. 3pm.

Gates locked once walk begins.

Walk limited to 25 participants.

Terrain: mostly flat countryside, but surface damp in places and uneven in wooded areas and riverside.

Please be aware that no dogs are allowed on this walk
