
History and Heritage Walk N Talk Drogheda-Tales of Yesteryear

Presented by Community Historian Brendan Matthews, will take place on Wednesday next August 2nd beginning outside the old Jail (Chadwicks), in Scarlet Street at 7.30pm.
Brendan will tell a few tales regarding the inmates of the Jail of yesteryear before the walk moves down Francis Street before turning into the beautiful grounds of the former Sienna Convent. Here Brendan will speak a little on the origins of the Sienna Nuns at Drogheda and the magnificent building that was once their residence. The walk will then proceed through the medieval Lawrence Gate and into Lawrence Street where Brendan will speak about the architectural buildings along the street.
The Walk will finish at the entrance to the former Free School Lane that once linked Lawrence Street to William Street where Brendan will tell a tale or two regarding the renowned Tumulti Brothers of Free School Lane.
Please note: There is no charge for this event however all donations towards the further research of Community History will be greatly received on the evening.
