Dust off those hiking boots because we are back with our first group walk of 2026 !

Join us and Boyne Valley Walking on Sunday 18th January for this “Lumpers Loop Walk.”

This 11km walk is a great introduction to hill walking, moderately challenging with a mixture of terrain, its sure to blow off the cobwebs and (fingers crossed) give us some stunning coastal views, weather permitting.

Important information

No dogs allowed. Places are limited.

Meeting time at 9.45am.

Walk starts at 10am sharp.

Starting Point: The Lumper’s Pub, Ballymakellett, Ravensdale Co Louth – A91 FN2W.

Parking: Limited Free parking across the road , close to community pitch. Lumper’s pub not open until after walk. €10 parking charge at pub since sauna opened.

Terrain: steep hills , track, grass, uneven rocky and mucky ground in places.

Distance: 11km

🚻Services: Coffee van on site from 9 am. Café and bar at The Lumpers not open until after walk.

Strandfield Cafe & toilets open 8 am .

Clarkes Petrol Station open 9am

Clarkes & Strandfield are both after you leave M1 exit 18 on R173

🌦️Minimum Gear: Waterproof footwear, rain gear, gloves , hat , water and snacks. We recommend bringing a walking stick/pole.

Estimated Time: 4 hours approx.

Walk Grade: Moderately Challenging with highest ascent of 450 metres approx .
