Welcome to the Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival.

The Drogheda area and the Boyne Valley are steeped in myth, legend and folklore. Walk through the storied past with author and mythologist Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland and hear many tales associated with Drogheda and its hinterland, some of them known worldwide, some much more obscure.

Hear about the arrival of the Milesians at Colpe, the myth about formation of the River Boyne, the legends about who is buried under the great mound of Millmount, the great monster that was ripped asunder at Newgrange and thrown into the Boyne, the school teacher who turned himself into a great Black Pig, the story of the lost sunken city under Drogheda, the tunnel that linked Mellifont Abbey with Drogheda, and much, much more.

The walk is at a leisurely pace and covers a total distance of about 2.5km.

We will be capturing photo and video content as part of the Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival. By purchasing a ticket you are consenting to your image being taken and used by the group for the future promotion of walks and events. All care will be taken to exclude minors in content captured.

The Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival is sponsored by Failte Ireland and supported by Love Drogheda BID (Business Improvement District-Drogheda ratepayers).
