Welcome to the Boyne Valley Trails September Festival; immerse yourself in our guided walks, hikes and trails and discover the beauty, history and nature of the stunning Boyne Valley region.

Join guide Dusty and special guest Ellie Berry of Tough Soles on this exploration walk to a place steeped in History. The Moyry Pass otherwise known as the Gap of the North .This was an ancient route known as the Slige Midluachra, one of the five ancient roads from Tara .

About Ellie Berry-Tough Soles

Ellie Berry is an Irish adventurer, writer, and co-creator of Tough Soles, an outdoor project documenting long-distance walks and outdoor experiences across Ireland. Having walked every National Waymarked Trail with her partner Carl Lange, Ellie continues to explore the relationship between people and place through storytelling and endurance-based challenges. In the summer of 2023, she set a new speed record for climbing all 275 mountains on the Vandeleur-Lynam list, completing the feat in 50 days, 5 hours and 45 minutes. Her work combines a deep respect for Ireland’s landscape, encouraging others to find their own connection to the outdoors. Learn more at Tough Soles website. 

Our walk is a lovely 4 hour looped walk mainly through woodland with lots of places of interest and a slice of Irish rain forest .

Meet from 9.30 am at the Secret Garden Cafe.

Walk starts at 10am and finishes at approx 2pm.

Distance 12km

Parking & toilets at Cafe.

Directions , take exit 20 off the M1 North , take right turn at the top of the slip road and first exit at the next roundabout.

Grade: Moderate to Moderately Challenging in a few places

Breakfast is available in cafe from 9am and lunch upon return.

Please note: no dogs are allowed
